We are a team of veterans who undertake the production of documentary Films, Coffee Table Books and Light & Sound shows mainly for the Indian Armed Forces. Wing Commander Rakesh Singh Chauhan, as the team leader has been lucky to fulfil his dream of capturing most modern jets and other war machines as he served in the Indian Air Force for over 30 years (1979 till 2010). Being an Aeronautical engineer and working on the most advanced aircraft like the MiG-29, he acquired a sound knowledge of not only on the Indian Air Force but also broadly on the Indian armed forces.
While in service he was also actively involved in aviation photography as the official photographer of the IAF. Capturing a fighter jet under high “g” forces is a lifetime experience which certainly demands tremendous aviation and photography knowledge. He flew numerous sorties to capture all types of aircraft for over 15 years apart from covering international exercises involving other air forces from Singapore, France, UK and USA. He also filmed at various air shows, like Aero-India, Paris and Farnborough shows. His aerial photographs are even used today by the Institute of Flight Safety and printed in numerous magazines and books.
A childhood passion propelled a nebulous idea into the shape of a bankable team to create meaningful and digital military archives. In the last few years, Torque Aviation team has produced many films and coffee table books apart from designing of Light & Sound show like Gen Zorawar Singh's Fort at Leh and Tawang War Memorial. Our team also undertook complete event management of Iron Fist-2013 (Fire Power Display) of the IAF.
Our team creativity is further strengthened by three veterans who are also highly passionate about military subjects. Colonel Narendra Sheoran, of the Armoured Corps and a veteran of 1971 war, forms the backbone for all historical writing. His vast experience of service apart from the NSG, DGQA, and MoD is an added advantage. The other veteran, Group Captain Ramesh Tahlan, a fighter pilot and a well-known drone filming pilot, assists in producing spectacular aerial visuals. In last few years he has captured various Passing out Parades, Multi-activity displays, exercises and many historical buildings of importance. Col JK Singh is another well-known voice-over artist who has contributed immensely towards few Army projects with his patriotic poetry and engaging narrations. Apart from films he has been a regular commentator for the Army Day parade, Prime Minister Rally, NCC parade and few other national functions.
The history of our Armed forces is full of heroic deeds and supreme sacrifice. The war heroes and martyrs do the nation proud and are a source of inspiration for the future generation. Modern digital technology has enabled capturing the essence of our rich historical heritage for posterity, in the form of High Definition Films and Coffee Table Books. A well-prepared training film is a modern-day answer for cutting down significant expenditure and reducing the inherent risk towards the training of troops.
As a team of veterans, we are always ready to contribute with our creative skills to showcase our brave soldiers most gloriously.
Apart from the above, we also specialize in making static scale Aero models and Aviation paintings. These models and aviation paintings are best suited for display at Squadron and unit museums.
Since the books and films produced by us are mainly on armed forces, most of our work is not available in the public domain. However, links for some of our sample work are given at respective pages.
